This Intensive ESL Courses support and guide student’s language and communication needs to integrate students whose first language is not English into mainstream Canadian society. Through these courses, students will be ready for practical use but also for academic preparation.

The minimum course length is 12 weeks

You will graduate with:

  • The foundation to read, write, speak, and listen in English.
  • The confidence to interact with other English speakers and merge into the Canadian culture.
  • The pre-requisite to enroll in other programs at Central College without further language testing required.

CURRICULUM

 

Our curriculum is designed to help students build English language and communication skills by constantly interacting with real and practical contexts, and prepare the students for the academic and social communities. Each course focuses on language acquisition in four skill areas: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Students may study as many levels as required.

Students will take a written and oral placement test on the first day where they will be placed into the appropriate level of General English class.

This course is designed for beginners focusing on basic English skills including grammar, vocabulary, written exercises, oral exercises, pronunciation practices, conversation and group activities.
Level 2240Lower Intermediate
This course is designed for the lower intermediate level students focusing on Intermediate English skills including grammar, vocabulary, written exercises, oral exercises, pronunciation practices, conversation and group activities.
Level 3240Intermediate
This course is designed for the intermediate level students focusing on Intermediate English skills including grammar, vocabulary, written exercises, oral exercises, pronunciation practices, conversation and group activities.
Level 4240Upper Intermediate
This is the final course designed for the intermediate level students focusing on Intermediate English skills including grammar, vocabulary, written exercises, oral exercises, pronunciation practices, conversation and group activities.
Level 5240Advanced
This course is designed for the advanced level students focusing on advanced English skills including grammar, vocabulary, written exercises, oral exercises, pronunciation practices, conversation and group activities.
Level 6240Upper Advanced
This is the second course designed for the advanced level students focusing on advanced English skills including grammar, vocabulary, written exercises, oral exercises, pronunciation practices, conversation and group activities.
